Hotel Review: KSL Hotel & Resort (Deluxe King Room)

Johor Bahru has quickly become one of our favourite places to hang out over the weekends.ย This time round, we have decided to stay a night at KSL Hotel & Resort and chill our way out in KSL shopping mall.

KSL Hotel & Resort

KSL Hotel & Resort is located about 10 minutes car ride away from JB Sentral. We took a taxi from City Square to KSL Hotel & Resort for about 20 ringgit during peak hours (chop carrot). If you have a prepaid sim card, you can use Grab as it is a lot cheaper than hiring one at the taxi stand.

Right beside the hotel you can find KSL shopping mall. There are also shophouses and food around the area if you are willing to walk and explore.

Our Check-In Experience

There wasย no issues with our check-in experience. We were given our keys quickly after we were able to confirm our booking ID on Agoda. Just a word of cautious, do remember to screenshot or note down your booking ID on Agoda if you do not have a prepaid sim card. Their WIFIย takes forever to load the app.

Deluxe King Room

Our room is located in Main Tower Level 23. The size of the room was advertised to be 26 sq.m, which is 2 sq.m smaller than the superior room (one tier lower). We reckon that the difference of 2 sq.m doesn’t really affect our experience greatly. The design of the room is average: just appropriate and right for a short stay.

There is a cable tv in the room, whichย you can tune toย Singapore’s TV channels. We suggest that you can bring your own entertainment channels as their channel selection is quite limited.

View from our hotel room

Since we were staying at the high-level, we do quite a good view from our hotel room. Of course, don’t expect anything more than just a busy city.

Basic Amenities in the hotel

The Bathroom

The bathroom is at its average size: just enough for basic cleaning. As far as we could remember, it is okayย for a quick stay. We don’t feel that the toilet is well-maintained.ย There are dirts stuck between the tiles. They are, however, not very obvious and eye-glaring. Just don’t stay at them and it should not trigger the cleanliness freak within you.

They do have bathroom amenities. But they are not as fantastic as other 4-5 stars hotels in other places. Do bring your own if you are fussy over the smell and quality of the amenities.

One thing to note that you might want to bring your own towel. During our stay, one of the towels areย stained with black dirts. We didn’t bother to request for a change since we have brought our own towels. You know, just in case…

Others

If you want to stay in JBย longer, you can also opt for a late checkout. It is only priced at 70 ringgit. Do inform the counter in the morning before you check-out and make the payment over the counter before the usual check-out time at 12.00p.m.

Late checkouts for you?

Worth the Price?

We paid $117.65/night for the Deluxe King room. To be honest, there is limited hotels nearย the shopping areas.ย The room is not the cleanliest we have seen but it is reallyย okay for a short stay. KSL Hotel & Resort provides a convenient mean for shoppers to chill and relax after half a day of walking and queuing (at the custom). If you are going to KSL, this is definitely what we will recommend for its convenient location!
