The LiveUp membership programme is an initiative led by Lazada (with Redmart, Uber, and Netflix) to promote digital shopping in Singapore. Basically, you pay a membership fee to join the club and receive some benefits. It actually feels like a Lazada loyalty program except that you will be able to use it on Redmart.com.
What I’m going to share with you today, is everything that you need to know about LiveUp membership. At the end of this post, you will be able to decide whether this digital membership is what you need at your fingertips.
Let’s dive in!

What is LiveUp Membership?
As mentioned, the LiveUp membership programme gives you an opportunity to earn more rewards while shopping on Lazada and RedMart.com. In a nutshell, these are the benefits:
- 5% rebate on every Lazada orders (S$ 50 capped)
- 5% rebate on every Redmart orders (no capped!)
- Free (Fast) Delivery for both Taobao Collection and Lazada orders
- Free 2 months trial for Netflix (another 4 months free if you pay for the membership after 60 days trial)
- SGD10 off for every 10th Uber Ride and Uber VIP Access for discounted price
- “Free” delivery for Ubereats (for orders over SGD 35 on a refund basis)
The first year membership costs S$ 28.80. If you love the membership so much that you want to continue for another year, you will need to pay S$ 49.90.
How Can I join LiveUp Membership Programme?
In the past, you can only join the LiveUp membership trial programme if you purchase an item from Lazada or RedMart. I think they have finally realized that it is much better to let anyone who stumbled upon this membership to join the trial.
Now, you can start your trial via Lazada here or RedMart.com here. It does not matter which platform you decide to sign up the membership – you can use them across both platforms and receive the same benefits.
LiveUp Membership Benefit Analysis
As what was written above, LiveUp membership is supposed to give you more rebates and benefits. Let’s dive into each benefit to see if they are worth for your sign up.
Benefit #1: 5% Cashback On Lazada and RedMart
If you often purchase items from Lazada or Redmart, this will be a good initiative for you to accumulate cash back for your purchase on top of your credit card rewards.
The only caveat? Rebates will be credited to respective accounts on each platform. For instance, you will receive 5% cash back into your Lazada’s account when you purchase from Lazada. You will not be able to combine the cash back and used it together on one website. All rebates will expire 30-days after the order is fully delivered.
You can only accumulate up to S$ 50 cashback each month. If you spend S$ 1,001 or more, you will receive S$ 50 rebates. It is highly unlikely that you will spend S$ 1,000 for consecutive months.
Assuming this is the only benefit that you are interested in, you need to spend minimally S$ 576 on Lazada or Redmart to earn S$ 28.80 cashback. This average to be S$ 48 per month.
If you happen to have big purchase every month, you will earn more rebates. Take for example you buy a phone for S$ 500 in January, you will receive S$ 25. Then in February, you purchase a Robot cleaner for S$ 800. Instead of paying S$ 800, you will only need to pay S$775. On top of that, you will receive another S$ 38.75 rebates. In March, you buy another USB thumbdrive at S$ 40 but you will only need to pay S$ 1.25.
Effectively, you will only be paying S$ 1276.25 instead of S$ 1340. In total, you save S$ 63.75 on all your purchase. If you deduct the membership fee, you have saved S$ 34.95.
It is very clear that the LiveUp membership will only be beneficial if you have a big purchase in consecutive few months. If you are only going to purchase small value items, you will not be able to recoup what you paid for the membership fee.
Should I Renew After A Year?
Now, let’s assume you have signed up the LiveUp membership account and fast forward a year later.
Instead of S$ 28.80, you will need to pay S$ 49.90 to renew the membership. Now, if we repeat the same scenario we have described above, you will still save S$ 13.85 from all the purchases. I would think that it is still worth it to purchase the membership.
In this case, it is only worth it to renew if and only if you are going to purchase big value items for consecutive months in the subsequent year.
Free Netflix for 6-months
If you are a Netflix user, you will definitely want to pay S$28.80 for LiveUp membership. Let me share with you why this is beneficial with my personal example.
I signed up Netflix just two weeks ago to assess our wants in such a service. After I joined the trial, my free Netflix subscription is extended for another 2 months. Assuming I paid (which I did) S$28.80 for the membership because of Netflix, our Netflix subscription will extend for another 4 months.
If you do the calculation, you are paying only S$ 7.20 per month for 6 months subscription. The cheapest plan in Netflix costs S$ 10.98 per month. You will enjoy a maximum of a total of S$ 22.68 discount for 6-months.
Hence, if you are already considering to sign up a Netflix account, I will recommend you to do the following:
- Sign up Netflix for 1-month’s trial (new-user)
- Sign up LiveUp membership trial for 2-month extension
- Pay S$ 28.80 for another 4-month extension
If you are a new Netflix user, you will get 7-months of Netflix at a highly discounted price! To be honest, you can watch tonnes of TV shows within that 7-months! Otherwise, 6-months is also a really good deal for existing users.
Should I Renew After A Year?
This is a non-renewable benefit. Hence, you should not renew if you are signing up for Netflix subscription.
Benefit #3: “Free” Delivery for Ubereats
If you prefer food delivery, LiveUp membership offers free delivery for Ubereats. The caveat is you have to hit at least S$ 35 per order, up to 4-times per month.
Why did I italic free?
Technically, you will still need to pay the delivery fee. If you are eligible for free delivery, the delivery fee will be refunded to your account. Hence, you can use the refunded delivery fee to offset next purchase.
If you are purchasing food for a group of people…
- You can hit S$ 35 easily.
- You can also account delivery fee into individual price… Just saying.
Of course, if you are joining LiveUp membership only for this benefit, please look for somewhere else.
Benefit #4: Free Lazada & Taobao Fast Delivery
To be honest, I have never ever paid any delivery fee on Lazada even before I signed up for LiveUp membership.
Most of the times, the parcels are sent way before what is stated on the website. I have never received a late parcel before even without LiveUp membership.
I feel that this is used as a “padding” so that they can have more benefits when you look at their brochure. You can judge but this is definitely not a reason why you want to join LiveUp membership programme.
Benefit #5: Get S$ 10 off Uber Rides and Enjoy VIP Rides
If you are a LiveUp member, you can receive S$ 10 for every 10th ride you have with Uber. This is capped 12 times a year. You can also book VIP Uber rides for a price that’s identical to UberX.
Personally, I feel that it is only worth it if your ride is always less than S$ 10. The more you spend for your 1st to 9th ride, the less the S$ 10 is worth as a discount. For instance, if you spend S$ 100 for all 10 rides, S$ 10 is only worth 10% or less. If you spend only S$50 for all 10 rides, S$ 10 discount may worth around 20%.
If I attempt to redeem S$ 10 every month, I will hit the balance after I take 27 rides (S$ 30 off for 3-times). It will be easy for people who always take Uber – sales or whoever who needs to ride around very frequently. Once you hit the 3rd time, the membership will seem to be a lot more beneficial.
Should I Renew After A Year?
You will need to take at least 45 rides (S$ 50 off for 5-times) to hit the balance you pay for the membership. You will still be able to get S$ 10 off for another 7 rides. Again, if you are in the line which you have to take many cab rides, the membership may be a good investment for you to earn some rebates.
How to Activate LiveUp Netflix Subscription?
First, you have to sign up the 60-days free trial for LiveUp membership (duh!). Then, LiveUp will send you an email to let you know that you have joined the membership. In the email, there are two links to access your free Netflix!
Netflix will ask if you want to create a new account or sign in your existing account one. Once it is done, the gift credits will be credited to Netflix account. For the next two months, you can watch Netflix for free 🙂
It will be the same if you decide to continue the trial membership. An email will be sent to your inbox so you can click and activate your free Netflix subscriptions.
To maximize your freebie, you should create a new Netflix account and utilize Netflix 1-month trial before you sign up for LiveUp Membership. In this way, you can experience 7-month Netflix for S$28.80 (even better!)
How To Cancel LiveUp Membership?
As I mentioned in my benefit analysis, it will only worth to continue LiveUp membership for another year if you are using Uber rides almost every day to maximize the gift credits.
Otherwise, it is not worth to continue if you are using it to receive rebates from Lazada or RedMart.
After one year, you must remember to cancel the membership before they charge S$ 49.90 to your credit card.
To cancel LiveUp membership, you can log in to your account on Lazada. On the sidebar, click on “LiveUp Membership”.
You will be brought to the LiveUp membership page. Here, you can click on the cancel LiveUp membership button as shown in the image below.
After that, you will be able to cancel the membership. That’s how easy it is (luckily)!
So let’s try to conclude what will be worth for you to pay S$ 28.80…
- For 6-months “free” Netflix subscription, yes it is worth to pay for S$ 28.80.
- But if you are going to use this as the rebate channel, it is only worth if you have big purchases for at least 3-4 months or you use it with conjunction with other benefits extensively.
- If you ride Uber frequently (at least 2-3 times a week), yes it is worth to pay for S$ 28.80 or S$ 49.90.
- Or if you are thinking of Ubereats, free delivery… please rethink and make sure you use other benefits above.
If you are using the LiveUp membership for multiple benefits (e.g. Netflix + Uber), I would say that it is definitely worth it to trial for 60-days and sign up for S$ 28.80. I have also listed down if it is worth for you to continue your membership after a year. It will be up to you to judge whether these matrices can help you receive S$ 49.90 in value.
For now, I signed up LiveUp solely for Netflix usage. Next year, I will cancel since Netflix subscription is non-renewable for another year. How about you?
