Unlike what the name suggested, Carton King Creativity Park (紙箱王) is not really a “park”. Instead, the Carton King Creativity Park is a nice little garden decorated with things made by corrugated paper. Inside the garden, there are several themed restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops for their patrons.
We visited Carton King (Dakeng) a few years ago. It was one of the most memorable trips we had from Taichung! Even though it was a very small place, we were amazed by how they made everything out of corrugated paper.
How to Go Carton King (Dakeng)?
If you are in Taichung, you might want to visit the main branch at Dakeng (大坑). From Taichung Main Train Station, you can take Taichung Bus 15 or 16, UBus 1 or 20, Rybus 21 or 31. Then, you can alight at 大坑圓環站 and walk to the location.
Alternatively, you can book a cab. Honestly, it is not very easy to travel in Taichung with public buses. Firstly, the bus intervals can be very long (depending which bus you’re taking). Secondly, most of these places are located outside of city areas. You won’t be able to find a “proper” map to go to the place. Once, we took a bus to a tourist attraction. Surrounding the bus stop are buildings that are not what we have seen from Google Map (outdated). We were lucky to be directed by a cab uncle along the way when we walked to the destination.
Experiencing Carton King Creativity Park
The entrance fee to Carton King is 200 NT. You can use 100 NT to offset anything from the gift shop or restaurant. On top of that, every patron is given a game card to collect stamps. Once you have collected all the stamps (at all locations), you can receive a set of gifts from the park.
We stopped by their themed cafe for a little rest.
We had fun when we were touring Carton King Creativity Park. We finished touring the place within 1 hour because it is rather small. My nieces had some serious fun when they visited the place.
So if you are going to Taichung, we highly recommend this place! Do put it in your itinerary when you book a car!
