Earlier this year, I had earned nearly 16,000 points from a week-stay in Hyatt Regency Montreal (read the review for the hotel). We decided to redeem the points and book a luxurious staycation in Grand Hyatt Singapore.
If you are a member of Hyatt Gold Passport, do remember to quote your membership number for all your eligible stays! It is definitely worth it to redeem a cheaper stay in one of the most luxurious hotel chain in the world!
Grand Hyatt Singapore
Grand Hyatt offers one of the most luxurious accommodations in Singapore. It is located 5 minute walk away from Orchard MRT Station. This is one of the the best locations to stay in Singapore if you are here mainly for shopping!
Our Check-in Experience
The hotel sends an email to your inbox once your room is ready (if you perform web check-in). We arrived at the reception house at around 2.30 pm after receiving the email at 2.15 pm.
I was standing at the web check-in counter when a hotel receptionist noticed my presence. She directed me to the main reception as the machines are not working at the web check-in counter.
The procedure is smooth and quick. The hotel receptionist handed us our card keys to our room after the paperwork.
The Grand Deluxe King
So actually… we reserved a lower tier room, The Grand King. We didn’t know that the hotel gave us an upgrade to The Grand Deluxe King until we arrived our room. It is indeed a pleasant surprise as the second-tier room is really awesome!
The Grand Deluxe King is much bigger as opposed to The Grand King. It comes with a separate living room area that The Grand King is lacked of. This area is perfect for executives to get some work done or for couples to snuggle and get some quality time with the television. We mainly have our take-away dinner in this area to avoid leaving notorious food smells in our sleeping area.
The Sleeping Area
The sleeping area consists of a king-sized bed, two side tables, a mounted television, a wardrobe and a luggage cabinet. You can slide the door between the living room area and sleeping area for a more conducive sleeping experience. The bed was tidied. Pardon us as we were too excited to roll on it before we take a photo!
The hotel has placed many bottles of mineral water around the room. We have one on each side of the side tables, two in living room area cabinets and two on the table! These are great additions to our stay as water is really essential in such a hot weather! Kudos to such service!
The Luxurious Bathroom
From the sleeping area you can go to the luxurious bathroom! It consists of a huge bathtub, toilet bowl area and standing shower area. In the bathroom you can also find a weighing machine and bathroom amenities. We love the shampoo and body wash! The smell (lightly green-tea flavoured) and quality of the shampoo, body wash and hand soap are really good!
The furniture are well-furnished and well-maintained. They are visibly clean and new. We did not spot any stain on our bed sheet or sofa. There is also no sights of leftover dirt from the previous guest. Overall, the room is really clean and comfortable!
We were really happy with the hotel service. The hotel made an mistake for our hotel arrangement. We made a small complain to the receptionist. Shortly after, they sent a gift for apology. I must say not every hotel is good in doing damage control and Grand Hyatt really did a great job!
Worth the Price?
We used Hyatt Gold Passport points to book the room. On top of that, we paid approximately SGD 205/night for The Grand Deluxe King. For such a luxurious night, it is definitely worth it!
On the other hand, you can book The Grand Deluxe King in Agoda.com for SGD 660/night (exc Agoda admin fees). For the location, service and quality of the room, it is definitely worth SGD 660!
