We are proud to have our first guest writer, Riviolas, to share her wonderful experience with Hotel Fort Canning during her ROM!
The Hotel Fort Canning is located in one of the historical sites in Singapore. The 5-star property looks as though it’s built since the British colony with their beautiful exterior. We booked Hotel Fort Canning a night before the day of my ROM. Since it was so last minute, we did not have time to do any proper research.
Around the hotel you can find a few tourist attractions. Unfortunately, the Hotel Fort Canning is not the most convenient hotel in Singapore. We took a train to Dhoby Ghaut Station and made our way to the hotel through the stairs. Unless you take a taxi, you will not be able to avoid the long stairs. The nice thing is you will be very near to the nightlife areas at City Hall, Clarke Quay, and Dhoby Ghaut.
My Check-In Experience
The check-in was smooth and swift! It’s really lovely that the hotel staffs at the reception congratulated us for our ROM! We were told by the reception that we were eligible for a 1-hour session of free-flow chilled fruit punch, complimentary wine, as well as light refreshments from the hotel. This is a pleasant surprise as we really love wine!
Hotel Fort Canning: The Deluxe Room
Honestly, we did not expect The Deluxe Room to look so luxurious and beautiful. The use of brown shades in the room, together with the greeneries at the windows, make The Deluxe Room filled up with so much natural sense. It almost feels like a resort instead of a hotel!
It is also nice to see our towels folded into two swans as the staff knows that we were here for our ROM.
The wardrobe is big and equipped with full-body length mirror. It was placed at a strategic place that helps to reflect more natural lights into the room.
I am very particular about the bathroom cleanliness and style. I’m so particular that my friends jokingly appointed me as the “CEO of World Toilet Organisation”. Just take a look at how beautiful the toilet is!
I love marble and Hotel Fort Canning has made it all right. The marble design makes the bathroom so much more elegant than most other hotels. How many hotels in Singapore cater this much of space for their bathroom? Bear in mind that this is the cheapest room in this property. Yet, everything feels so luxurious.
Of course, don’t worry that you will be exposed to peeking toms. You can bring down the blinds for the bathroom.
Bath amenities are kept in a really sleek wooden box just beside the sink.
Just like most hotels, you can enjoy the TV shows when you lie on your bed. It’s perfect for a couch potato like me!
I hope this is helpful for travellers and staycation goers.
