DBS will cease awarding points for DBS LiveFresh from 1st December 2017. What will remain is the card will still earn you 0.3% cashback on all spendings and additional 4.7% cashback on your online purchases and Visa Paywave payments. The good thing is they have lowered the minimum spending for you to enjoy additional 4.7% cashback.
Back then, I signed up the card because of a very attractive promotion. I ditched the card when the promotion ended. I mean, everyone knows that 3X DBS points are not as much as 10X DBS points right?!
Honestly, I’m not too sure how this revision is positive for the cardholders.
Why?! 5% Cashback!
Firstly, they are removing points from DBS LiveFresh on top of the usual cashback. How is this something good? Instead of replacing with a higher cashback value, they decided to lower the minimum cap to enjoy the benefits. Even though the amount of DBS points are not a lot, but you still could get additional rewards when you accumulate enough points (e.g. S$10 voucher for 600 points).
Secondly, there are so many other cards on the market that can provide better cashback. For instance, OCBC 365 covers a larger range of category (e.g. dining) with identical minimum spending. If you use a reward card, you can also exchange for cash voucher (e.g. Citibank Rewards) at a lower spending.
I can’t help to see many people ditching this card and go for something better.
