When we were in Guangzhou for a week last December, we spent 4 days in Conrad Guangzhou after a few nights at Holiday Inn Guangzhou Shifu. It was an impromptu decision as we were really lucky to fetch a good price during the
I was really excited because it was my first time staying in a Conrad property! Our previous stays with Doubletree Hilton were very pleasant so we were really looking forward to our luxurious nights with Conrad Guangzhou.
We stayed in the King Executive Suite with River View for 3 nights and boy, the room was really awesome! We were so dumbfounded that Mickey was asking me if the lady had checked us into the wrong room. Hah!
The suite is 92sqm and comes with a dining area, two separate bathrooms, a massive living room, a bedroom with king-sized bed, and a dressing corner. It’s the biggest hotel room I have ever stayed so far! We can play hide and seek in the room, no kidding!
We spent most of our time enjoying our home-cooked food and paid cable channel in the living room. The sofa can easily accommodate at least 5 adults and I believe it will probably make more sense if the living room is built for business travelers.
The “kitchen” comes with a microwave in the cabinet. We bought some instant food from the supermarket and used the microwave to cook our supper. The microwave was kept in the cabinet probably because it was too huge for the kitchen top.
The bedroom comes with a king-sized bed and it looks really modern. The headboard was really unique as compared to other hotels. There is also a TV stand right in front of the bed. At the corner of the bedroom, there is also a sofa, which I thought it’s a bit awkward.
The executive suites with river view are located on the high-floor so you are guaranteed to see the Canton Tower directly from your bed. I really love the view at night when the tower switched on its rainbow lights. The view was amazing!
The controls beside the bed can control lights of the entire suite. It was really convenient since we didn’t have to go out of the room to switch off the light in the living room.
The bathroom is the most impressive out of the entire suite! I’m pretty sure that the entire bathroom is built out of marble. Marble bathrooms are very rare and I never expect myself to stay in one of these. There are both bathtub and walk-in shower in the executive suite. The bathtub itself is deep and big enough for two adults for sure.
Just like most other luxurious hotels, the bathroom comes with double sinks. This is really convenient for couples so you don’t have to fight for the sink when you are washing up. Can you see the remote control on the right of the sink? There is a mini television hidden behind the mirror for you to enjoy the cable tv when you take a bath at the bathtub!
If I’m not wrong, every Conrad property gives you a rubber duck at the bathtub. Conrad Guangzhou has a purple duck and I’ve gotten a yellow duck from Conrad Singapore. The box on the right has two packets of bath salts. If you prefer to take bubble baths, you will need to bring your own!
The King Executive Suite comes with complimentary access to the executive lounge. As the hotel was new, the executive lounge was rather empty during our stay. I remembered the food served in the evening was not sufficient for our dinner. Most of the time we would need to get ourselves supper from the shopping mall nearby.
The lounge seems to occupy about 1/4 of the entire floor. It is the largest executive lounge I have ever visited so far There are many cozy corners in the lounge and most of them are great for big groups. If you want some quiet time, you can move away from the food area to acquire some solitude.
We really liked to spend our time at the executive lounge though! It’s quite enjoyable to view the Canton Tower while we enjoyed our drinks and snacks in the lounge. Since it was quite empty, most of the time we had the executive lounge to ourselves in the late evening!
I have never regretted my choice in splurging 3 nights for the hotel. My experience is fantastic and I will never get the same feeling in other hotels. I really look forward more stays with Conrad properties in the future!
